What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
I have bookmarked, Dugg, and I joined the RSS subscription. Thanks! ….

Phil - enjoyed your post! I homeschool/unschool both of my sons for this very reason. I already have little entrepreneurs...an 8 year old who is planning his own video blog and a 16 year old building websites. When you ask them what they want for themselves in the future you will hear stories about how they can impact the world as leaders in service to the world through their own endeavors.

Glad to see that this paradigm is shifting for so many families and for a developing generation.

Be Well,
Joy

Thank you, Susanna for your comment.

This stresses the need for us to be independent thinkers and to not blindly accept everything that others tell us no matter how learned they appear to be.

Love & Blessings,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Thank you for this post. In fact, the school system that we currently have is based on the models of the industrial revolution and hasn't changed much since then. The schools were/are part of the industry and prepare people to become part of the labor force. In fact, schools that enhance the thinking and creative capabilities of their students are not seen in a good light.

Interesting to know that we still accept a system that is so outdated. Would we accept to drive a car on a daily basis that was produced in the 1800's?

We need to break the cycle and I'm happy to see that this is happening little by little.

Thanks for this post!

Claudio
p.s. we still call the department that deals with people 'Human resources' as if humans were part of the machine :)

Hi Phil,

I love this post! You hit so many important points. I agree, those books should be required reading.

It's interesting how children are taught. Even parents send this message to their children. The poor want to know what type of job their children want to do, who they want to work for. The rich want to know what type of company their children want to own. Very different mentalities that shape our children.

Thanks for covering this! Great stuff!

Hi Tracey... I really appreciate your comment!
I agree that fear is that big bug-a-boo that so often keeps us from acting even when we know that's what we should do! That's why mindset is so important to have the courage to overcome those fears or even better to not have the fears to begin with. We should focus on all the benefits that will accrue when we do take action.
Love & Blessings,
Phil

Hi Phil,

This whole topic is very thought provoking, and thanks for your insights too Beth.

I think a lot of people operate from fear : fear of change, of going against others expectations, of failure... I'm sure there are loads more.

I used to work for a company, and upon being told my team was being outsourced (which I had to actually do too!) I had a few months to think of alternatives. I decided not to look for a job, but to take a couple of months off to think about what I REALLY wanted to do. My goodness, peoples reactions were astonishing! My colleagues were horrified that I would be out of the job market "for so long", and many felt I was making a big mistake. Funnily enough, the more people reacted, the more I was convinced I had to do it - I just couldn't imagine going into another business & being unhappy again.

It's 3 years later, and I have my own 2-year-old business, and a very different life. Financially it's less secure as I'm still learning to market myself better & have a more consistent client flow, but I thank the universe for giving me the opportunity to do my own thing :)

So the message is, if you want to , DO give being your own boss a try - there's nothing quite like it!

Best wishes
